Shou Mei (2014) | aged white tea

TASTING NOTES: fruitcake, cookie crumbs, honey

Dark, fuzzy, honey-scented leaves that make at least ten beautiful steeps. The brew reveals flavors reminiscent of dense fruitcake or panaforte. The tea is absolutely perfectly balanced and pairs splendidly with both sweet and savory.

This Shou Mei from the 2014 harvest exemplifies the journey of nature when the bright and intensely fresh leaves become something profound, aromatic, and sweet.

Shou Mei literally means Long Noble Life Eyebrow, due to its thin and crescent-shaped leaves that resemble eyebrows, hence its name. It is a white tea that is produced from naturally withered upper leaf and tips, with a stronger flavor reminiscent of lighter oolong teas. It is plucked later than Bai Mudan
