    Preparing Your Teapot (Seasoning)

    Before its first use, your Yixing teapot needs to be seasoned to awaken the clay and remove any residual dust from the crafting process. Follow these steps:
    1. Rinse with Hot Water – Gently rinse the teapot inside and out with hot water to remove surface dust.
    2. Boil in Clean Water – Place the teapot in a pot filled with clean, filtered water. Slowly bring to a gentle simmer and let it sit for 30 minutes. This opens the clay’s pores.
    3. Brew a Tea Bath     – Remove the teapot and place it in a fresh pot of warm water with the type of tea you plan to dedicate it to (oolong, black, or puerh). Let it soak for several hours or overnight.
    4. Rinse & Dry     – After soaking, rinse with hot water and let it air dry completely. Your teapot is now seasoned and ready for use.

    Usage guidelines

    Best to Use Only One Type of Tea – Yixing clay absorbs the essence of the tea brewed in it, so dedicate your teapot to one category (oolong, black, or puerh) to preserve its unique seasoning.

    With time, your Yixing teapot will develop a rich patina, deepening its character and enhancing every tea session. Treat it well, and it will reward you with a lifetime of exquisite brews.

    Avoid Soap or Detergents – Never use soap, as the porous clay will absorb it. Instead, rinse thoroughly with hot water after each use.

    Dry Naturally – Let the teapot air dry completely with the lid off to prevent trapped moisture.

    Handle with Care – The teapot is unglazed and can be fragile. Avoid sudden temperature changes that may cause cracking.
