Tea story

The original name “Xiao Fa” (销法沱) roughly translates to “Export to France,” a nod to the tea’s history as one of the earliest puerh products created specifically for export. Originally introduced in the 1970s, Xiao Fa tuo became the flagship product of XiaGuan Tea Factory in western Yunnan — one of the oldest and most revered puerh producers in China.

These small nest-shaped tuos were designed to be easy to transport, brew, and store. With time, they gained a loyal following not only in France, but around the world. The recipe is simple and traditional: sun-dried leaves from Yunnan’s broadleaf tea trees, fermented using the "wo dui" method, then pressed into tight, dome-like tuos and aged in the factory's cool, dry warehouses.

The 2017, 2018 and 2021 releases maintain the classic XiaGuan character: robust, clean, and dependable. It’s a shou puerh built for everyday use — stable, smooth, and warming.

Char siu bao (Cantonese steamed pork buns)
The rich, sweet-savory glaze of the pork filling harmonizes with the tea’s mellow earthiness, while the fluffy bun echoes its soft, rounded body.

Dark chocolate tart with sea salt
The tea’s woody depth and dried fruit notes soften the tart’s bitterness, while the salt elevates its minerality.

Roasted chestnut-stuffed chicken
The nutty-sweet stuffing highlights the tea’s dried fig and bark notes, creating a cozy and rustic combination.
