About

The Katakuchi Matcha Bowl was developed by ORIGAMI together with Satén Japanese Tea, a Tokyo tea house known for its modern approach to Japanese tea culture.

This is a white bowl — simple, bright and quietly elegant. It gives matcha a clean background, letting the green colour of the tea stand out beautifully. On the table, it feels fresh and minimal, easy to combine with any teaware.

The shape is made for comfortable daily use. The rounded bottom gives the bamboo chasen enough room to move, helping you whisk matcha into a smooth texture with fine foam. The tapered mouth and small spout make it easy to pour whisked matcha into another cup, over ice, into milk, or into sparkling water.

It can be used as a modern chawan, but it is especially practical for contemporary matcha drinks: iced matcha, matcha latte, matcha soda, or one whisked portion shared between two cups. Made in Japan from ceramic, it is a calm and useful piece for everyday matcha.

Use & Care

How to Use

Add sifted matcha and a small amount of warm water. Whisk with a bamboo chasen until smooth and foamy. Drink directly from the bowl, or use the spout to pour the matcha into a cup, a glass with ice, milk for a latte, or sparkling water for matcha soda.

The shape is suitable for both usucha-style thin matcha and thicker matcha bases for lattes.

How to Care

Rinse after use and wash gently with or without mild dish soap.
Dishwasher safe.
Microwave safe.
Heat resistant up to 120°C.
Avoid sudden extreme temperature changes.
Dry well before storing.
