    About

Crafted in Tokoname — one of Japan’s legendary Six Ancient Kilns — this sleek blackkyusu (side-handled teapot) honors centuries of ceramic tradition while striking a distinctly contemporary silhouette. The smooth, unglazed black clay provides a wonderful tactile experience, grounding your daily tea ritual in elegant simplicity. Its petite, perfectly balanced form is designed to rest comfortably in hand, making it a functional piece of art and a stunning addition to any modern tea collection.

Beyond its striking appearance, this teapot is actively engineered to elevate your tea. The unglazed mineral-rich clay naturally interacts with the tea's tannins, gently softening astringency to produce a sweeter, rounder cup — particularly with green and oolong teas. Inside, a masterfully craftedsasame (built-in ceramic mesh filter) gives the leaves ample space to fully unfurl, ensuring an exquisite, full-bodied extraction and a flawless pour every time.

    Use & Care

    How to Use

Before brewing, pre-warm yourkyusuby filling it with hot water for a few seconds and pouring it out. This primes the clay and prevents your brewing water from dropping in temperature. Add your loose leaves, pour in your water, and cover. When pouring, hold the side handle with your fingers and place your thumb lightly on the lid knob to secure it. Always pour the tea until the very last drop — this prevents the leaves from over-steeping and turning bitter, leaving them perfect for a second or third infusion.

    How to Care

Because the inside of this teapot is unglazed, the porous clay will naturally season over time, absorbing the oils of your tea to create a smoother brew.To protect this finish, never use dish soap, detergent, or a dishwasher, as the clay will absorb the chemical taste.Simply rinse the pot thoroughly with warm or hot water immediately after use, ensuring no leaves are stuck in the ceramic mesh. Leave the lid off and let it air-dry completely before storing it.
