About

A gaiwan is one of the most essential pieces of Chinese teaware. Made from three parts — bowl, lid and saucer — it is used to brew loose leaf tea directly in the vessel, then pour the infusion into a cup or fairness pitcher.

This porcelain gaiwan has a soft, calm presence. The glaze is warm and muted, with a fine golden line along the rim and delicate raised decoration across the body. The floral relief catches the light gently, adding texture without making the piece feel too ornate.

The 160 ml size is versatile: spacious enough for rolled oolongs and larger leaves to open, but still small enough for concentrated gongfu-style brewing. The lid helps control the pour, hold back the leaves, and keep the aroma close between infusions.

It is a beautiful choice for anyone beginning with Chinese tea, but also a lovely everyday piece for those who already enjoy slow, repeated steeping. Simple, tactile and graceful — made for tea that unfolds cup by cup.
