Tea Story

Gyokuro from Nishide in Kyoto is the creation of a family that has perfected the craft of tea for over 140 years. Grown in the fertile lands surrounding Uji, Kyoto—a region known as the birthplace of Japanese green tea—this gyokuro represents a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. The Nishide family, led by Takashi and Atsuko, has maintained a commitment to high-quality tea cultivation and careful refinement.

The tea leaves are shaded for three weeks to increase their umami and deepen the flavor, a technique that has been passed down through generations. After harvesting in the spring, the leaves are steamed lightly to preserve their freshness, then rolled and dried.

This meticulous process results in a smooth, rich tea, perfect for tea connoisseurs and newcomers alike. It's a tea that speaks of Kyoto’s deep-rooted tea culture, ideal for those who wish to experience the gentleness and complexity of gyokuro.
