About

The Katakuchi Matcha Bowl was developed by ORIGAMI together with Satén Japanese Tea, a Tokyo tea house known for bringing Japanese tea into a more modern, everyday setting.

Its shape is built around movement. The rounded bottom gives enough space for the chasen to move freely, helping you whisk matcha into a smooth, fine foam. The tapered mouth and small spout make it easy to pour the tea into another cup, a glass with ice, or milk for a matcha latte.

This makes the bowl especially useful if you love matcha beyond the traditional way: iced matcha, matcha latte, matcha soda, or serving one whisked portion between two cups. It is still beautiful enough to use as a chawan, but more flexible for daily use.

Made in Japan from ceramic, the bowl has a warm matte surface and a quiet, contemporary shape. It feels calm, practical and considered — a piece of teaware for people who want their matcha ritual to be beautiful, but not complicated.

Use & Care

How to Use

Add sifted matcha and a small amount of warm water. Whisk with a bamboo chasen until smooth and foamy. Drink directly from the bowl, or use the spout to pour the matcha into a cup, a glass with ice, milk for a latte, or sparkling water for matcha soda.

The shape is suitable for both usucha-style thin matcha and thicker matcha bases for lattes.

How to Care

Rinse after each use and wash gently with or without mild dish soap.
Dishwasher safe.
Microwave safe.
Heat resistant up to 120°C.
Avoid sudden extreme temperature changes.
Dry well before storing.
