Tea Story

Dan Cong teas come from the Phoenix Mountains (Fenghuang Shan) in Guangdong, where tea trees are often grown individually rather than in uniform rows. Each tree can develop its own aromatic profile, which is why these teas are described by fragrance — Mi Lan Xiang, or 'honey orchid aroma', is one of the most recognized.

The leaves are harvested from older trees and processed with a careful balance of oxidation and roasting. After picking, they are withered and shaken to begin oxidation, then slowly roasted over charcoal. This roasting is not heavy, but precise — it stabilizes the tea and deepens its sweetness without masking its aroma.

What defines this tea is not a single note, but how it moves. The first infusion opens with floral brightness, followed by fruit and honey. With each brew, the profile shifts slightly, becoming rounder, deeper, and more integrated.

Dan Cong teas are often brewed in small vessels with higher leaf ratios, allowing the full range of aromas to unfold over multiple infusions. The experience is not immediate, but gradual — something that develops over time in the cup.
