Tea Story

Dian Hong is the celebrated black tea style of Yunnan Province, a region better known historically for puerh and large-leaf tea trees. Black tea production here developed in the 20th century, quickly gaining recognition for teas with unusual sweetness, depth, and smooth texture.

Jin Zhen, meaning Golden Needle, refers to a premium grade made primarily from young buds. During oxidation and drying, the fine hairs on the buds turn golden, creating the striking appearance that gives the tea its name.

This tea is typically produced in western Yunnan, where mountain elevations, warm days, cool nights, and rich soils help tea leaves develop concentration without harshness. The base material usually comes from large-leaf assamica cultivars, which give body and richness while still allowing softness in the cup.

Golden Needle teas are prized for elegance rather than brute strength — less tannic than many breakfast teas, with a naturally creamy, rounded profile.
