About

A chashaku is made for one small movement: taking matcha from its container and placing it into the bowl. The long handle keeps the fingers away from the fine powder, while the curved tip gathers and releases it with a light tap.

This version has a darker, speckled bamboo finish often described as sesame bamboo. The natural pattern gives each scoop its own character and sits beautifully beside white porcelain, deep ceramic glazes and the bright green of matcha.

At approximately three grams, it feels almost weightless. Its value comes through repetition: opening the matcha, measuring the powder, returning the scoop to the tray. A small tool that quietly gives the preparation its beginning.

Use & Care

How to Use

Use the curved end to lift matcha from its container and transfer it into a clean, dry matcha bowl. Add the amount needed for your preparation, then gently tap the scoop against the bowl to release any remaining powder.

It can also be used to lightly guide matcha through a fine sifter. Avoid pressing too firmly, as bamboo is naturally slender and flexible.

How to Care

Wipe away remaining matcha with a clean, dry cloth after use. When washing is needed, rinse briefly by hand and dry immediately.

Do not soak, place in the dishwasher or leave resting in water. Avoid abrasive sponges, strong soap and prolonged exposure to heat or direct sunlight. Store only when completely dry.
