About

A gaiwan is a lidded bowl for brewing loose-leaf tea. The leaves open right in the bowl, and a small gap under the lid holds them back as you pour.

Brew the same leaves a few times and notice how the flavor changes. The white porcelain makes the color easy to see, and the small cups let everyone try a little of each round. Three cups, plenty to talk about.

Set includes: Gaiwan with lid and saucer, three small teacups.

Use & Care

How to Use

Rinse the gaiwan and cups with hot water to warm them, then empty. Add your leaves and water at the temperature recommended for your tea. After steeping, leave a small gap under the lid and pour out all the tea. Share a little into each cup, then brew the leaves again. If you’re new to a gaiwan, practice pouring with cool water first.

How to Care

Wash by hand with mild dish soap and a soft sponge. Let all the pieces dry before putting them away. Avoid abrasive cleaners, direct heat and sudden changes in temperature.
