About

Dehua is a porcelain-making region in Fujian, southeastern China. The area is known for pale porcelain and forms made for both daily use and display. This teapot continues that visual language through a clear white body and a compact rounded shape.

Across the surface, slender blue-grey orchid stems curve around the pot while butterflies appear between them. The decoration leaves generous areas of white porcelain visible, so the piece feels light rather than ornate. The same motif continues across the lid, bringing the small teapot together as one complete object.

The form is made for tea prepared in several short infusions. The rounded body gives rolled oolong leaves and other larger teas room to expand, while the fitted lid holds in heat and aroma between pours. The short spout and close-set handle keep the movement compact at the tea table.

Porcelain is useful when one teapot will be used for different teas. Its glazed surface does not readily hold aroma, and the pale interior makes the colour of each infusion easy to see. It can move from green or white tea to oolong, black tea or puerh without taking on the character of the tea brewed before it.

Use & Care

How to Use

Warm the teapot with hot water, then empty it. Add loose tea leaves and water at the temperature recommended for your tea.

Allow the leaves to infuse briefly, then pour the full infusion into a fairness pitcher or directly into small cups. Emptying the teapot completely helps keep each brew controlled. Return to the same leaves for several short infusions, adjusting the time as their flavour develops.

How to Care

Rinse shortly after use and wash gently by hand with mild dish soap and a soft sponge.

Avoid abrasive cleaners, direct heat and sudden temperature changes. Dishwasher and microwave suitability have not been confirmed. Leave the lid slightly open and allow the teapot to dry completely before storing.
