A gaiwan is one of the most essential pieces of Chinese teaware. Made from three parts — bowl, lid and saucer — it is used to brew loose leaf tea directly in the vessel, then pour the infusion into a cup or fairness pitcher.

Use & Care

How to Use

Add loose leaf tea directly into the gaiwan. Pour in hot water at the temperature recommended for your tea, then place the lid slightly tilted and pour the infusion into a cup or fairness pitcher while holding back the leaves.

Use shorter infusions and resteep the same leaves several times.

How to Care

Rinse after use and wash gently with mild dish soap.
Hand wash recommended.
Avoid abrasive sponges, especially around the rim detail.
Avoid sudden extreme temperature changes.
Do not place on direct flame, in the oven, or under the grill.
Dry well before storing.
