About

A gaiwan is a traditional Chinese tea vessel made from three simple parts: a bowl, a lid and a saucer. The leaves brew freely inside the bowl, and the lid holds them back as the tea is poured. There is little separating you from the process — you can see the leaves opening, lift the lid to smell them and follow the tea as it changes from one infusion to the next.

Fantasy brings a softer character to this classic form. Its sides are gently fluted, creating small shifts of light across the warm green surface. The shape feels almost floral, while the compact 100 ml capacity keeps each brew small and precise.

Small filtering holes beneath the lid make the pour more controlled. They catch loose leaves before they reach the cup, which makes this gaiwan comfortable for someone learning to brew in this way, as well as for an experienced tea drinker who wants an easy everyday piece.

The pleasure of using a gaiwan grows gradually. At first, the hands are learning where to rest and how far to tilt the lid. Soon the movements become familiar: leaves, water, a short wait, then a small cup of tea. The same leaves return to the bowl several times, revealing something a little different with every pour.

Use & Care

How to Use

Warm the gaiwan with hot water, then empty it. Add loose tea leaves and pour in water at the temperature recommended for your tea.

Place the lid on top and allow the leaves to infuse briefly. Hold the gaiwan by its rim, keep the lid slightly tilted and pour the full infusion into a cup or fairness pitcher. The filtering holes will help keep smaller leaves inside.

Brew the same leaves again, adjusting the time as the flavour develops.

How to Care

Rinse shortly after use and wash gently by hand with mild dish soap and a soft sponge.

Avoid abrasive cleaners, metal brushes and sudden changes in temperature. Do not place over direct heat or in the oven. Allow the bowl, lid and saucer to dry completely before storing.
