In the misty hills of southern China, loquat trees begin to fruit in late spring. Their golden, fragrant bounty has long been associated with vitality, clarity of voice, and the season’s first warmth. This gaiwan, painted by hand in sancai-style underglaze, brings that essence to your tea table.

Crafted in Jingdezhen, the historic capital of porcelain, the vessel features a delicate motif: a slim, bending branch with oval green leaves and clusters of ripening loquats. The yellow of the fruit is echoed in the knob and foot of the bowl, a quiet nod to balance and design continuity.

Loquats are more than just seasonal markers. In traditional Chinese medicine and literature, they are linked to throat-soothing elixirs and poems of longing.
