About

Made by Saikai Ceramics in Hasami, this bowl is part of the Hakuwan series. Its white finish, Gofun, takes its name from a traditional pigment used in Japanese arts and crafts.

The wide opening makes whisking easy, while the pale interior lets you see the matcha come together, from the first stir to a fine layer of foam. A small foot supports the rounded bowl. It comes in a gift box, ready for someone’s first matcha setup—or your own next cup.

Use & Care

How to Use

Warm the bowl with hot water, then empty and dry it. Add sifted matcha and water at the temperature recommended for your tea. Whisk with quick, light back-and-forth movements, keeping the tips from pressing against the bottom.

How to Care

Wash by hand with mild dish soap and a soft sponge. Microwave safe; do not use in the dishwasher or oven. Fine lines may develop in the glaze and pick up color with use. Avoid sudden temperature changes and dry fully before putting away.
