Unlike Jasmine, Osmanthus doesn’t become bitter when dried, so the flowers remain in the tea, enhancing its quality without any unwanted flavors.

Tea Story

In southern China, osmanthus blooms for a brief period in early autumn. The flowers are small and almost unnoticeable at first glance, but their aroma travels far — sweet, dense, and unmistakably fruity. For generations, they have been used to scent teas, wines, and desserts.

This tea follows that tradition. Fresh osmanthus blossoms are layered with oolong tea while both are still warm from processing. The flowers release their oils into the leaves, then are either removed or left in small quantities, depending on the style. The goal is not to overpower, but to merge, the floral character becoming part of the tea rather than sitting on top of it.

The base oolong is lightly oxidized, chosen for its smooth body and ability to carry aroma. Over time, the sharper floral edges soften, settling into something closer to stone fruit and honey than fresh flowers.
